Description: Intaxication came to us from the CARMA Placement Program.  He is a six-year- old (2011) classically handsome bay gelding by Stormello out of a Skip Away mare named Margarita Miss. “Taxi” as is he affectionately called, is a good-natured guy who is eagerly awaiting to have a job again. He is the kind of horse who likes to work and really thrives of human interaction. Will you be the one to help him find his second career? As a two-year- old, he sold at the OBS April Sale for $77,000 – a big jump from when he sold for $1,000 as an unassuming weanling. Taxi gave it 100% effort on the track and in his nine career starts, he never finished lower than fourth. His record is 9; 4, 3, 1 and he earned $45,220. Taxi officially retired from racing on June 23, 2016 coming out of a race as the result of a bowed tendon.

He seems to have a history of this injury throughout his racing career. It first flared up in December 2014 – March 2015 and again as his retiring injury. With his tendon feeling nice and firm, he was moved out to a small outdoor pasture where he could play. His tendon held up perfectly so he graduated to a massive five acre grass pasture with friends. Taxi runs freely with his buddies and is moving great. Taxi is the kind of boy who craves a job and has a fire to compete. We believe in training this horse will absolutely thrive. We have not returned Taxi to any kind of formal work but he is ready to be restarted according to our layup facility manager. With his temperament and willingness he should be very game for his next career.

Update May 2017:  Taxi has shipped to the barn of Lindy Christensen (LC Equestrian) in Las Vegas, NV.  He is partially sponsored by Estolia’s, a maker of high end and organic salsas.  Estolia’s is calling him “Mr. E.” so our boy has two barn names now!!  Mr. E. is being prepped for the Retired Racehorse Project Makeover event in Lexington, KY to be held the first week in October 2017.  Mr. E will not be available for adoption until after this premier event.  His adoption donation will be in line with his talents, training and potential.  So far he’s doing exceptionally well.
Update February 2018: Taxi was adopted by his trainer Lindy Christensen Rogers and her husband David and will be living in Las Vegas, NV. Lindy will continue Taxi’s training and he will be showing regularly. Congratulations David & Lindy!
