Description: We do not know what this mare has been doing for the last four years. Possibly she was a broodmare. What we do know is that in June 2014 Belle needed us.  She was rescued from auction and then given a safe landing after an unknown past.  She has settled in beautifully and during quarantine was looking after Grifter’s Mark (Griffin), her very young turnout companion.  Belle has now joined the crew at Silverado Stables in Bakersfield and has a new boyfriend named TC (Turbulent Creek).  If interested, the first step is to complete an Interested Adopter Form found on our website.

October 2014 Update: Belle is an absolute sweet heart. She learns SO fast, has no fear of anything, beautiful trot, just a big love, like TC. Yesterday I continued working on her bending at a walk/trot and setting her head which she does on her own now. We did figure eights on both repeatedly and large circles in the arena. I even had the pleasure of having three small dogs come flying up to us when we were walking back from the arena and she couldnt have been less interested. She even let me open the huge gate while on her going in and out of the arena. She caught on super quick but still has some work. Today we are going to test out the waters of loping. I feel this one will be kind of how it was with her walk. She wanted to walk 1000 miles per hour and I had to show her it is okay to go slow. She is an awesome horse and someone is going to fall in love with her!

September 2015 Update: We are thrilled to announce the adoption of both Good Deal and Laguna Salada to Ixchel M. Ixchel and her two daughters live on a beautiful ranch in Jamul, CA. The whole family rides competitively as hunter and jumper riders. Ixchel, a veterinarian, wanted to give a retired racehorse a home and provide them with love, TLC, and some trail riding. These horses are already spoiled. Ixchel reports that both Good Deal and Laguna Sulada are well adjusted into her menagerie of creatures and that they have each paired up with their own friend.
