Description: This big chestnut may have an enviable racing record but he’s just a big sweetheart. He loves people and other horses and craves attention. He’s a hard working boy and after his last race January 2018 was “hired” as an outrider at the Los Alamitos race track. In other words, he’s dead broke to ride because he was a former track pony. Unfortunately, track ponies, especially those as outriders (they have to catch all the loose and misbehaving horses) are worked extremely hard. They are ridden 4 – 5 hours a day, pretty much 7 days a week. This was too much for him and he became very thin and was frankly exhausted. Luckily through our trainer contact at the track we were able to retire him. He’s already gained a lot of weight back and is ready to go on to his next life. We think he would make an excellent trail horse with his good disposition and level head.
