Description: Empty Headed is an eight-year-old (2008) big and beautiful bay gelding by legendary California sire Unusual Heat out of an Ole’ mare named Chi Chi Nette. If you recognize his breeding, it’s because he has some very successful full siblings including graded stakes winners and sales toppers! Empty Headed is no slouch himself. In his 41 career starts, he raked in nearly $250,000!
At his age, he has more than earned a change of scenery and would just love being pampered by his own human. He was officially retired from racing on August 22, and at the insistence of his breeders who adore him, Empty Headed joined our placement program 11 days later. He is retiring without prominent injury – aside from the typical wear and tear of a long career.
He does have arthritic ankles and a set suspensory which was managed with 1-2 grams of phenylbutazone while he was still racing. Since he has been with us, Empty Headed has been enjoying some much needed pasture time where he can let down and just be a horse. He has a kind temperament and will make someone a wonderful mount and pet. He is an all-around good boy and easy to be around. Empty Headed is a barn favorite no matter where he goes and captures the heart of everyone who meets him. He should suitable for any discipline at the lower levels.
