Description:  Romar Success (Romar) is a seven-year-old (2010) California-bred bay gelding by Old Topper out of a Devon Lane mare named Devon’s Success. This handsome fellow received high praise from his care takers at Perham Ranch before we even committed to taking him.

Romar has a great temperament and is intelligent. He is a fast learner and has been handled a lot since arriving at the rehab facility. Romar was on the leaner side when he joined the program but is gaining weight well and growing a rich healthy coat.

Romar was a solid competitor on the track having a career record of 21; 3, 3, 7 and earned $100,265. He retired from racing on May 5, 2017 after he suffered a dorsal cortical saucer fracture to his left front cannon bone. Romar is such a warrior that he managed to win the race with notwithstanding his leg injury. The diagnosis was made on May 17, 2017. The performing veterinarian stated he would need 90 days of hand walking and minimal exercise. After that, he could be light ridden to help stimulate healing. It was recommended he not return to work for 5-6 months.
He has now more than completed the recommended total time off and is getting ready to begin his new career. The track veterinarian felt his prognosis for a second career is very good and would not be limited by equestrian sports.

Before he entered our program on November 1, 2017 a complete medical diagnosis was performed that showed him completely healed.
