Neigh Savers paid for Daisy’s bail and quarantine period and has since taken her into our program. Daisy is now in training and she will be restarted under saddle. She looks as though she may be an excellent sporthorse prospect as she has a large floaty trot and good mind.

February 2015 Update: Adoption HAPPY DANCE!

A Navajo Tale’s last year of life has been one heck of a tale. Taken from the race track straight to a feedlot, her story raised many concerns and initiated a full investigation as to how this happened. This unraced mare ended up at a feedlot with an enlarged knee and pneumonia. Our friend in rescue, Jenny Earhart, who rescues horses privately reached out to us asking us to help with this girl. We were happy to take her on.

From Feedlot to Showring, A Navajo Tale soared under the gentle hand and exceptional talent of Daphe Thompson. Daphne fell in love with Daisy’s willingness and effort. This mare showed a ton of potential in the hunter ring.

After her success at the Thoroughbred Classic Horse Show in December, Daisy suffered a hematoma to her left stifle. She then went into rehab with Shauna Pennell at Silver Crest Stables in Simi Valley. Together with Dr. Marta Granstedt, Shauna helped nurse Daisy back to health.

During her rehab, we received a call from Amy C. Amy lives in Utah, but spends her winters in Scottsdale. She fell in love with the video of Daisy at the show. There was just something she saw in her…Famous last words. Amy hopped in her truck and drove out to California to meet her. Yep! It was love at first sight.

Understanding that Daisy was just ready to go back to work, Amy wanted to work with the vet to make sure that Daisy got the best of everything. Together, they worked out a plan to make sure she got what she needed.

We are excited to announce that Daisy is on her way to meet Amy in Texas. Amy is spending two weeks at Clinton Anderson’s ranch. With her retrained mustang, Argos, and now Daisy, Amy will spend the next two weeks growing and challenging herself as a horsewoman.

Winters in Scottsdale, Summers in Utah, Daisy is living the Life of Riley. We are anxious to see the pictures of their journey together. Amy and Daisy are going places and doing things.

Most horses are not perfect. They encounter a few bumps along the road. There is a person for every horse. A person who loves the spirit of that animal and is willing to embrace the journey together working to ensure the best interest and happiness of the horse. Thank you Amy for being that person for Daisy. She has so much love to give. Happy trails!

Poki now renamed Friday completed her 2 week stint at Clint Anderson’s ranch in Texas and showed the true versatility and heart of a thoroughbred, transforming herself into a fearless ranch horse with her new best friend and companion Amy. Amy writes: “Daisy and I at the ranch in Texas. She was great! I love her. We are overnighting in Amarillo tonight on our way home. She is traveling well!”
