Description: Daisy is a classy and smart former broodmare who is sound and is in training at Bear Creek Stables with the team there. She quickly became a favorite with her kind and gentle personality. Although she was not trained post racing, she is showing every sign of enjoying being ponied on the trail and in the company of other horses and people. A real find with a good head. Don’t delay in completing your adoption application for her. Our good and sound horses go very quickly.

May 2016 Update: Daisy is one of three broodmares brought into the program late last year. Initially shy, and with little post-racing training, she was content to stay in her paddock mate’s (Jasmine-My Little Cokie) shadow.

But time spent on groundwork, desensitizing Daisy with blankets, tarps and the carrot stick, has paid off thanks to Serena’s patient handling. This smart, flashy gal looks forward to her daily training sessions, her eyes following the Bear Creek volunteers around when they arrive, as if to say “pick me”.

Daisy is an athletic, sound, but spirited mare, still finding her way from broodmare to riding horse. She is doing well lunging both on the line and at liberty in the round pen, and has recently been started under saddle.

We don’t know precisely where this Kentucky-bred mare’s career path will take her – trail horse, English or Western pleasure show prospect – but with her good looks and soulful charm, her future looks bright.

Update November 2016:  We are so thrilled to announce that Daisy (Erasingly) has finally arrived at her forever home on the Big Island of Hawaii to join two other mares on Lee & Julie’s 40 acre ranch. Julie traveled from Hawaii to take a look at our two mares at Bear Creek Stables and fell in love with Daisy who bonded with Julie almost immediately. It took a while to make all the arrangements since flying a horse to Hawaii is a bit complicated but Daisy arrived safely first in Honolulu and then Kona.  Daisy is shown here with Julie and husband Lee at her new island home. To think just a year ago Daisy was a discarded broodmare and now she’s living in paradise!!! Most of us at Neigh Savers wished we could have come along as stowaways but couldn’t be happier for Daisy, Julie & Lee.
Update June 2018:  Adopter Julie M. updated us recently as follows:  “Daisy has put on weight and is healthy and happy….at least I think she is.   Her “roommate” is Thumper, my 19 year old Trakehner mare.  They have a 24 ft. x 24 ft. shed that they have access to 24/7.  They use it all the time!    In the background, you can see how tall the grass has gotten due to all the rain.  I’ve mowed the front 5 acre pasture and it’s already grown 8 inches!  That’s where they are now.  It’ll take me longer to mow the back 10 acre pasture.  Hope it does your heart good to know that all your hard work has paid off in Daisy’s case!”
