Description: This gorgeous roan gelding stepped out of the gate and broke a sesamoid. He continued and completed the race but then limped off the field. His compassionate owner paid for surgery to repair his ankle and had a screw inserted for his future comfort. Although he has been cleared to reenter race training the owner does not want to take a chance and has donated Tommy to us. He is still paying for his board and other needs until we find him a home. Tommy is currently not available for adoption as a longtime donor has stepped up and made a sizeable donation to hold him as she contemplates whether it is the proper time to bring another horse into her life. Stay tuned. He’s a real gem and a real find. His former trainer, the well known and respected Mike Puype says he one smart guy.
Update: In July 2014, Doubting Thomas was adopted by longtime friend Greg. Greg is going to slowly bring Tommy back to work and get strong under saddle. He will eventually be trained to jump.
