Popatop Pete
Pete is a big almost 17hh, 4 year old, dark bay gelding by Petersberg out of the dam
Country Cutie. Although he had been sent to the track to prepare for racing,
he was ultimately retired as unraced.
Pete is a gentle giant and very kind for
grooming and riding. He has been well trained under saddle in both english and western tack and is
in need of
someone with the time to ride him more often. Pete was bred and first trained in Washington
before transferring to California at Golden Gate Fields. Soon after arriving in
California Pete developed pneumonia and was sent to UC Davis. While at UC Davis
he colicked and was in need of surgery. The vet didn't feel Pete had much of a
chance but he defied the odds with his remarkable will to live. Luckily, the
owner also thought Pete should be given a chance and now we have a horse
who has only grown bigger and stronger since that time.
After months of recovery Pete was put back into race training. The trainer felt
he would be well suited for two mile marathon races if they had them. This is
because Pete is not fast but has tremendous stamina. After weighing all of his
options the owner eventually decided that Pete deserved to start a new career
that woud suit him better.
Pete is currently located in the Bay Area. He won't be available for long because
of his excellent personality, sound condition, conformation, size and that he is
turn key
and immediately rideable to start his second career with a qualified
applicant.

Pete has been adopted by a teenager named Haley who only lives about a mile from Delta Breeze Farms. This makes
Brenda very happy as she can keep in close contact with not only Pete but also Haley. Congrats Haley....you and Pete
make a fine looking couple!
