Lord's Table (Click here for Past Performances)
Lord’s Table, arrived at Destiny Ranch and took one look at the peaceful surroundings
and lush countryside and said to himself “Paradise”. When dinner was served he dug so deeply into his meal
that he choked and caused an immediate ruckus. His episode called out the Emergency Vet and he racked up a
huge bill at “The Spa” before he could even settle in. But settle in he did and in the few weeks he has been
with us has blossomed back into the gorgeous horse he was on track when he was referred to as “The Lord” and
was a great competitor at the Los Alamitos track, the fastest horse there and once winning 5 races in a row
and earning over 100k.
We would like to thank and acknowledge owner Mr. David Cook, of DC Corp, for sending Louie to us with a generous
donation. It is very rare that our horses come with anything and Mr. Cook also provided for Louie's transportation costs
to the Neigh Savers foster facility.
Retired with a suspensory “Louie” as we now call him, has not raced for over a year and has had plenty of time to recover. He would make an excellent dressage horse due to his flashy looks and can take on any discipline except high jumping. Louie has a great personality and is very friendly. He eagerly looks forward to visitors and especially visitors with treats in hand. Even though Louie has not worked out in a year he still looks like a million bucks and is totally buff. We know whoever gets to take this lovely 9 year old Memo gelding into their lives will be extremely happy!
Update -- June 2009 -- Louie is ADOPTED!
Our new friends Chris & Jennifer W. from Santa Clarita, CA report the following:
"Louie is doing GREAT!!! He hasn't shown any ill effects from his journey.
He seems a little tired but other than that he is doing great. He is eating well
and drinking well. He seems very at home in his stall and he can tell
that is his safe spot. He enjoys looking out over at the neighbors which
is a farm rescue facillity so he has a birds eye view of the cows.
We haven't really done much with him in the last day and a half other than
walk and today Jennifer was jogging next to him (untied)
in the area and he was jogging with her. He moves like a champ.
Very fluid. He is a well put together horse. Legs are both the same temp,
and we had a friend check him out so we aren't crazy thinking he seems ok.
As advertised, he has a very cool personality. Likes to be around us and
seems interested in attention. He does not like the round pens though.
He rolls in them and then wants out. Paces around presses against the bars.
Just doesn't like it. That posed a little problem because the arena is HUGE
and we didn't want him running around uncontrolled. So we walked around
the arena and he chilled out so we unclipped him and we as calm as can be,
didn't run around but just hung out and would walk around with us.
So that was a relief. He did the same today, just chilled and walked
around with us and jogged a bit with Jen.
All in all we are very pleased. I can't thank you enough for the gift you both
have given us."
Update -- October 2009
It turns out Louie is quite the sensitive guy. He started breaking out in hives regularly. Then Jen & Chris
had him tested for allergies and he is allergic to a lot of stuff, one month now with no hives and he is doing well.
He also tested his caregivers resources when he came down with a gas colic about a month ago when it got cool then hot,
but the vet came out and oiled him and he was fine the next day. Way to go Louie! Last photo is recently taken and shows a well oiled Louie soaking up the sun.
